Hello! This is my first post on my new blog. I am Katharine, called Kate, sometimes called Kateline. I am a new apprentice within the SCA, and this blog is going to help me keep track of my projects (and my life) for both myself, and hopefully my mistress.
So far, I have come to the realization that though I am a person of varied interests, my focus has been (and will continue to be) making clothing. By no means does this mean I don't make other things, and those will be featured here as well. But primarily, my focus will be garb construction.
I will likely also use this blog as a small place to track some changes in my life that I am implementing Namely, I am making a conscious effort to be healthier. I suffer from a range of western diseases, and while very well-managed by medication, I would like to manage them with diet and exercise so I needn't rely on pills to make sure I don't die in the middle of the day. Seems like a no-brainer, but what are you gonna do?
So to begin with, I thought I'd give myself a few goals to work towards for both my SCA persona and my regular persona:
1. Cardio 5 days a week, with interval days of weight/resistance training.
2. Create a well-fitted, hand sewn under cote and over cote of the mid 14th century for A&S.
3. Eat cleanly and well.
4. Have at least basic documentation for all period projects from here on out. (SCA Life projects included!)
5. Keep a clean home and workspace (wherever that might end up).
6. Work on weeding out and replacing worn, older, machined, crappy, and otherwise inappropriate garb from both my and my husband's garb collection with researched, appropriate garb.
Six goals. Some have definite end dates, others are ongoing. But I'd like to be able to check those off as a regular basis. So here goes nothing!
